The Walk for Literacy is a charity walk through Cambridge Common held on Saturday, October 29th. Registration begins at 9 AM. Walk begins at 10:30 AM.

Enjoy a 2.5/5- mile walk through Cambridge and along the Charles River. Each walker will get a free breakfast and lunch as well as a free t-shirt and a chance to win a great raffle prize.

This year we're honored to be joined by Pamela Civins, Executive Director of Boston Partners in Education, and journalist Christina Asquith, author of the recent book "Sisters in War: A Story of Love, Family and Survival in the New Iraq."

The funds you raise will support Barakat's programs, including five schools across South and Central Asia and 32 home-based literacy programs serving girls and women in Afghanistan.

Register below today and come enjoy a beautiful fall day full of walking, food, fun activities, and fabulous raffle prizes, knowing that you are impacting the future of women and children in South and Central Asia.

It's only $25 per person now! On the day of the walk, it's $40 per person at the door.

Once you register, set a pledge goal for yourself or a group of friends and think of new, fun ways to raise money. A little goes a long way. You could:

Raise $2,000 and buy books for 3 libraries.

Raise $1000 and educate an entire class of 25 students in a home-literacy course.

Raise $550 and send a girl to high school for a year.
