"They control everything through the radio"

The New York Times reports in a Jan. 24 article that the Talibani takeover of Swat province has taken to sweeping the air waves. The Taliban continues its rampant destruction of girls' schools in the northwestern Pakistani district, in attempts to put an end to female education throughout the country.

Nearly every night, Talibani spokesmen broadcast over the radio warnings against "un-Islamic activities," including girls' education, and threats to local citizens and police officers. The hostile region continues to take hits as the Pakistani military and government find their influence disappearing in the fight against the ever-spreading militant regime.
